There are people who live in RV's with multiple kids, traveling around the country with no permanent address. People do this all the time, you just never hear about it.

he was a very experienced sailor, a licensed USCG Captain, and well respected in the sailing community. He is no novice and wouldn't push the big red button unless something was very serious.
He didn't just go out willy-nilly on a sailboat trip like people seem to think.

A bad comparison. You can take an RV near a hospital. The remote nature of a journey like this with young children is just dumb as fuck.

Then why not do it by himself? I cannot comprehend taking young children along, no matter his experience and credentials. You cannot account for injury or illness when you are that far removed from medical care.

this wasn't a capsize, this was an intentional out reach because of a medical emergency.
if he went solo this could've happened to him and he wouldve done the same.
